Sourcing standards
remits.ca writes from primary sources. The organisation that publishes a rule, a rate, or a figure is the source we link, not a summary of it.
Typical sources include the Bank of Canada for published exchange rates, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada for consumer rights and complaint paths, FINTRAC for anti-money-laundering and registration rules, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for privacy law, the Canada Revenue Agency for tax reporting, and destination-country regulators for local rules.
If a claim cannot be verified at a primary source, we do not publish it as fact. Where something is uncertain, contested, or changes often, we say so in the page itself.
Citations and links
Factual pages carry a Sources section listing the documents and pages we relied on, with links to the original. We do not cite other commercial sites as authorities and we do not reproduce their text.
External links are provided so you can verify a figure or a rule yourself. We check them when a page is reviewed, but we do not control third-party sites and their content may change.
Accuracy and review cadence
Every guide shows a last-reviewed date. We revisit high-traffic pages when the underlying rules, rates, or consumer protections change, and we review the rest on a rolling annual basis.
Exchange rates and fees move constantly, so our pages explain how they work and where the current figure lives rather than publishing a number that will be stale within a day.
Corrections policy
Anyone can request a correction by writing to support@remits.ca. Include the page address, the statement you believe is wrong, and a link to the official source that supports your view.
We assess requests against primary sources. If a correction is warranted, we change the page and update the review date shown on it. If we cannot substantiate a correction, we explain our reasoning in the reply.
Independence and affiliate policy
Editorial decisions at remits.ca are made independently of any commercial relationship. We do not sell rankings, we do not accept payment for positive coverage, and no provider can pay to change what a guide says.
Some pages may contain affiliate links. When they do, the page carries a disclosure next to the link, and any commission we may earn never affects the information we publish. Full details are in the affiliate disclosure.
No fabricated data, no fabricated reviews
remits.ca does not invent figures, testimonials, reviews, authors, or credentials. We do not publish provider ratings, testimonials, or user reviews, and we do not fabricate them. If we ever quote a reader, it is with their permission and the quote is genuine.
Pages are assembled with software assistance from cited sources. Automation is a drafting aid only: it is not treated as a source, and any claim that cannot be traced to a cited primary source is removed before publication.
